RV Park / RV Campground – New Orleans RV Resort & Marina

Every so often we stumble across a truly unique RV park that not only earns its right to be featured as a Campground Spotlight, but also is a vacation destination in and of itself. New Orleans RV Resort and Marina (NORM) is one of those places. You have heard that location is everything and NORM does not disappoint on location and views; however, we’d be amiss if we didn’t talk about the drive to the resort. Located just minutes off of I-10, the park sits on the north end of France Road, which parallels the Inner Harbor Navigation Channel. The road is full of industry and looks a bit “battle worn” but all we can say is don’t judge a book by its cover, or an RV park by the drive to get there. A mere 12 minutes from the heart of the French Quarter and situated on the banks of Lake Pontchartrain this RV park offers great water views and beautiful sunsets. This is one part of the city where peace and quite seeps in and behind the gates of NORM, you feel like you are worlds away from city life. Palm trees are scattered throughout the RV park, adding to the vacation vibe you feel the moment you cross onto the property. Amenities abound at this RV resort and one of the most notable is the onsite restaurant and bar, touting a full menu and great happy hour prices. Imagine coming back to your rig after a long day sightseeing in the French Quarter, and instead of spending your evening slaving over a hot stove, you spend your evening enjoying dinner served to you with a view overlooking the lake, cold drink in hand, reminiscing about your day with your loved ones.
The impressive list of amenities doesn’t stop at the restaurant and bar. New Orleans RV Resort and Marina caters to all members of the family, and even to the family members that aren’t a fan of the RV lifestyle. The resort offers some pretty unique accommodations for those that don’t bring their home away from home with them. How does a fully furnished waterfront villa sound? Even better, how does a floating waterfront villa sound? NORM offers both! Situated along the banks of Lake Pontchartrain, the RV resort offers 35 villas, 3 of which can be found floating on the water. These villas can easily accommodate an entire family and offer some spectacular views off of their large waterside decks. The RV resort also offers a bungalow, several tiny homes and large vacation rental properties more akin to a home. And for those wanting to just dip their toes into the RV life, without the commitment of buying an RV, can rent a fully equipped RV, some of which are located waterside for some jaw-dropping views.
On top of the non-traditional RV accommodations, the park is home to 160 full-service RV sites. Sites range from the swanky waterfront Presidential site boasting a hot tub, outdoor kitchen and covered patio all situated on hand-laid brick pavers to their inland, standard back-in sites. Waterfront sites are designed for both drivables and towables, allowing guests to pull-in for waterfront views out of their windshields or back-in for travel trailers and fifth wheels. And in case your home away from home is the floating kind, the resort offers dock and slip rentals with 20, 30 or 50 amp, water, cable and sewage.
And just when you thought the list of amenities couldn’t get any longer, the list continues. Your furry companions were thought of and there is a large, fenced-in dog run area, complete with drinking water, for your four-legged companions. Be sure to stop in at the full-service convenience store to pick up any items you may have forgot, and do some shopping at their souvenir and clothing boutique. Guests looking to stay fit during their stay will enjoy the fitness room and a dip in the hot tub and pool is a welcome relief after a long day of being a tourist. And the list of amenities still doesn’t end; a boat ramp, RV and boat storage, propane sales, laundry, onsite games and activities and a new guest lodge.
New Orleans RV Resort and Marina made their resort a vacation destination, within a vacation destination. It may be a hard decision, whether to stay and enjoy all the conveniences of the resort or to step outside the gate and explore the beautiful city that is minutes away.
