My Aunt’s Famous Pepperoni Bread
My Aunt Jody’s pepperoni bread was always a favorite at every holiday dinner. It’s simple, easy and incredibly delicious. This is a classic “no measurements, to taste” recipe.
Preheat Oven: 350 degrees
Ingredients:
Frozen bread dough
non-stick cooking spray
seasonings – garlic powder, season salt, oregano, parsley
Sliced pepperoni
Mozzarella cheese
Parmesan cheese
Directions:
- Frozen Bread Dough (Rhode’s or Rich’s)
- Defrost frozen bread dough in microwave until squeezable (3 loaves take about 6 minutes)
- Spray loaf pan(s) with non-stick cooking spray
- Place defrosted loaf(ves) in pan, cover and let raise 1 to 1 1/2 inches
- Take loaf out of pan, roll into circle (no flour!) until pizza dough thick
Then:
- Melt 1 stick butter and add (to taste) season salt, oregano, parsley, garlic powder
- Spread on dough (about 4-5 TBSP) 1/4 inch from edge
- Add sliced pepperoni so they touch each other
- Add mozzarella and parmesan cheese to taste (how cheesy do you want it?)
- Roll side to side only
- Invert ends with finger (like a belly button my aunt said)
- Place onto a cookie sheet by edges and place the seam at the bottom.
Bake:
350 degrees for 20 minutes
My aunt’s notes: 1 pound of pepperoni makes about 5 loaves
It’s great frozen and reheated too!
