10. Spring Break – If you’re a college student, grab some friends, rent an RV and spend spring break in Lake Havasu City. Hang out on a boat in Bridgewater Channel or sunbathe on one of the many sandy beaches along the shores of Lake Havasu and the Colorado River. Afterward, head out to one of the many local bars or nightclubs and extend your fun into the night.
9. Take a Sunset Cruise on Lake Havasu’s Paddlewheel Boat – Built in 1983, the Dixie Belle is 60 feet long and can accommodate 131 passengers on their sunset cruises. You’ll start the trip by sailing under the London Bridge. During the cruise, you’ll see many lighthouse replicas, an old military installation and stunning scenery while sipping cocktails, eating snacks and watching the sunset.
8. See the Annual Western Winter Blast Pyrotechnics Show – If you love fireworks, then come to the Winter Blast. You’ll see epic fireworks shows from some of the best and brightest in the industry. You can join Escapees RV Club members at their Winter Blast Hangout or their Xscapers Pyro Party to witness the fantastic show while camping in your RV close to where they launch the fireworks.
7. Go Hiking – The area around Lake Havasu is perfect for hiking. Trails such as Garbage Can, Pilot Rock, Arch Rock and Watershed Loop, Blue Trail and Lizard Peak Loop, and SARA Crack Trail are all moderate-level trails. You’ll see beautiful scenery while getting exercise at the same time. Remember to take plenty of water and wear sunscreen.
6. Rent a Watercraft for the Day – You’ll have your choice of watercraft rentals for your day on the water. From kayaks to ski boats, you’re sure to find one that fits your needs. You can even grab your friends and head over to the River Rat Yacht Club to spend the day sailing on a pirate ship or hop on a floating tiki if that’s more your style.
5. Go Off-Roading – Rent an off-road vehicle or drive your own on the many trails around Lake Havasu City. Drive to the Desert Bar for an afternoon or stay closer on the more than 20 different networks of off-road trails.
4. Stay at Lake Havasu State Park – Lake Havasu State Park is the perfect place to camp near the water for swimming, boating and fishing. It has three boat ramps and 54 campsites with plenty of hiking trails, picnic areas and a sandy beach to relax. It’s also close to the London Bridge.
3. Enjoy the Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair – In January, colorful hot air balloons take off over Lake Havasu City. A night glow reflects off the Colorado River, and a mass ascension astounds visitors. Take a hot air balloon ride or stay on the ground and enjoy the carnival rides, the classic car show and more. It’s a fantastic event for all ages.
2. Take Your Picture on the London Bridge – This activity is a must when visiting Lake Havasu City. In 1968, Robert McCulloch purchased the London Bridge from the City of London, cut up the granite blocks from the bridge and had them shipped to the shores of Lake Havasu. His team then reconstructed the bridge here using concrete and the original masonry shipped from London. Take a walk over it, take your picture below it and enjoy the shops and eateries near it.
1. Xscapers Annual Bash (powered by Escapees RV Club) – Powered by the Escapees RV Club, the Xscapers Annual Bash is an event like you’ve never been to before. The bash takes place over eight days. There’s something for everyone at this one-of-a-kind, dry camping event.
Start your day off with coffee, yoga or a dog walk. After that, you can join one of the many seminars administered by the Xscapers’ community members, covering topics related to RV life. If you’re not using their co-working space, you can take hikes, bike rides and explore other activities in Lake Havasu City with new friends you’ve made at the bash.
Nighttime is when the bash really gets started, though. Xscapers work hard, so they play hard, and the party is an experience you won’t find at any other RV event. From dancing to the nightly music from live bands and DJs, competing in zany activities, to holding block parties, there is something for everyone. There are theme nights you can dress up for, grab a meal from local food trucks and take tours of fellow Xscapers’ RVs. They even have a Kids Camp for the youngest Xscapers.
As you can see, Lake Havasu City is a place for active people. There’s no shortage of things to do, and this list is a great place to start. From watersports to hiking, and hot air balloon rides to RV events, you’re sure to have a great time.
