RV Park / RV Campground – Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort and Marina

Some of my favorite vacations have been to beach destinations. There is just something about the warm nights, salty ocean breezes, sandy toes, fresh seafood and water activities galore that just speak to my soul. I also love RVing. There is nothing better than having all my stuff in tow and being able to bring as much as I want without worrying about airline restrictions or trying to pack everything into a car trunk that’s forever too small. And sometimes, parking our RV at a waterfront hotel-resort that offers all the amenities makes vacationing that much sweeter. While coastlines and waterways are dotted here and there with RV parks, there are few that fall into the category of true “resorts”; a place where you can park your RV, unwind and never need to leave the convenience of the RV resort. Case in point: Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort and Marina.
Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort and Marina offers 200 sites that are individually owned and available to rent from the owner. HHHRV manages the rentals, making the reservation process a breeze. Sites are categorized as either interior or waterfront sites, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. Waterfront sites run about $40 more per night than interior sites and offer some spectacular views and sunsets over the marina. As you can imagine, these sites book first and are sometimes hard to get. The check-in process is unique at HHHRV as sites are not assigned ahead of time; if you arrive before 5:00pm, you get a map, checklist of available sites and a golf cart to go pick your home away from home. We arrived after 5:00 and found the checklist and map posted at the front office. We have a Class A and tow our truck behind it, so we dropped our truck and drove through the park to find the perfect spot. For those pulling a camper, arriving before 5:00 will make choosing a site easier since you have the convenience of exploring the park via golf cart. There aren’t any pull-through sites in the park, but all the sites are large and beautifully landscaped. Nothing cookie cutter here – some sites offer grassy yards, some have large paver patios or water features, some are more private while some are close to all the action. We chose site 44 which backed up to lush trees, offered a paver patio and had tall privacy hedges on each side. The driveways for all the sites are all angled at 60 degrees making maneuvering and parking a rig of any size easy.
Besides the beautiful sites, what really sets HHHRV apart are all the on-site activities and amenities. The park offers two salt-water pools, a hot tub, tennis courts, two bath houses, an onsite restaurant (the Sunset Grille is a local favorite), a taco truck, live music on the weekends (in season), access to the Intercoastal Waterway, a full-service marina, playground, basketball court, horseshoe pits, a dog wash for Fido, and a very well-stocked store (beer and wine!). And then there are the plethora of water activities; the park’s location on the Intercoastal Waterway means you have access to it all. You can charter a fishing boat, or just fish off the dock like the locals do. You can paddle board, canoe, kayak, rent a motorized boat or jet ski, or try your hand at parasailing. Looking for the elusive mermaid? Simply hop on the mermaid boat tour right off the dock or catch the Daufuskie Island ferry to visit this gorgeous gem of an island between Hilton Head and Savannah. I feel like I need a minute to catch my breath after listing some of the amenities and activities at HHHRV.
